Quickstart
Launch your first repository market on gitpad in five steps with a Solana wallet and a small amount of SOL.
What you need
- A way to sign in. Connect Phantom, Solflare, Backpack, Jupiter, OKX, MetaMask or any other Solana wallet, or sign in with email, Google, GitHub or X and gitpad creates a Solana wallet for you (powered by Privy). Either way, you approve every transaction yourself.
- Some SOL. A launch pays one-time account deposits and a network fee. If you add an initial buy, you also pay for those tokens plus the trading fee. The launch review shows the exact total before you sign.
- A public GitHub repository URL. You do not need to own or maintain the repository.
gitpad never asks for your seed phrase or private key.
1. Paste a repository
Open /launch and paste a GitHub repository URL, for example https://github.com/owner/repo. You can also browse /find-repos for public repositories gaining attention.
If the repository already has a market, gitpad opens it. There is only ever one market per repository.
2. Review the token
Check that the repository shown is the one you meant. Then set:
- Token name (1 to 32 characters) and ticker (1 to 10 characters). Suggested values are filled in.
- Artwork. Keep the suggested image, choose another candidate with Change image, or Upload image (PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF, up to 2 MB).
Token metadata cannot be edited after launch, so review it carefully.
3. Choose an initial buy
Choose No buy (the default), 1%, 2% or Max 3% of total supply. The initial buy executes in the same transaction as the launch, at the first price on the curve. See Launching.
4. Review costs and approve
Connect your wallet and select Review launch. gitpad prepares and simulates the transaction, then shows:
- the initial buy, including its trading fee;
- account deposits for the new token and pool;
- the network fee;
- the estimated total SOL debit, next to your balance.
If the simulation fails or your balance is too low, approval is blocked. Otherwise, select Approve in wallet and sign.
5. Open your market
Wait for confirmation, then open the market from the success card. The card also links to the transaction receipt. If the status is pending, check the receipt before trying again; gitpad will not create a second market for the same repository.
After launch
- Share the market. Builders earn fees from every trade. The market page has share cards and an owner invitation you can send to maintainers.
- Track your discovery reward. As the launcher, you earn half of gitpad's curve fee share until graduation, 30 days, or 2.5 SOL earned. See Discovery rewards.
- Tell the maintainers. They can claim from /builders. The README badge shows their earnings on GitHub.
