Trading
How to buy and sell repository tokens on gitpad, and how quotes, price impact, minimum received, slippage and receipts work.
Before you trade
Open a market from /explore, a direct market link, or your holdings in /wallet. Market pages live at /token/<mint>.
Check the repository shown on the market and use the copy control to verify the full token mint address. A matching name or ticker alone does not prove you are on the right market. There is exactly one canonical market per repository.
Buy
- Enter an amount of SOL, or select a preset. You can edit the three buy presets with the sliders button; they are saved on this device.
- Review the quote: estimated tokens out, included trading fee, price impact, and the minimum you will receive.
- With a wallet connected, review the network fee, any token account deposit, and the total cost. If your balance is short, the panel shows how much more SOL you need.
- Approve in your wallet.
Selecting a preset only requests a quote. It never submits a trade.
Sell
Enter a token amount, or select 25%, 50% or MAX of your current balance. Review the estimated SOL you receive and the minimum received, then approve in your wallet.
Quotes
Quotes come from the pool's current on-chain state, computed with Meteora's SDK. The quote is refreshed before the transaction is sent to your wallet, and the prepared transaction is simulated before you are asked to approve it.
An estimate can appear before the network and account cost preview finishes. Both are checked again before you approve.
Price impact and slippage
These are two different numbers.
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Price impact | How much your trade moves its average execution price away from the pool's current spot price. Larger trades have larger impact. |
| Slippage allowance | How far the actual output may fall below the quote, because of other trades landing first, before the transaction fails. |
| Minimum received | The quoted output minus the slippage allowance. If the trade would deliver less, it fails and nothing is exchanged. |
gitpad uses a fixed 1% slippage allowance for buys and sells. It cannot be changed in the interface.
A 1% slippage allowance does not cap price impact at 1%. A large trade can have high price impact and still execute, because the quote already includes that impact. Always read the price impact line before approving.
Costs of a trade
| Cost | Paid by | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Trading fee | Included in the quote | 1.75% on the bonding curve. After graduation, the DAMM v2 pool fee applies. See Fees. |
| Network fee | Your wallet | Standard Solana transaction fee. |
| Token account deposit | Your wallet | Charged once, the first time your wallet holds this token. |
| Temporary wrapped SOL deposit | Your wallet, returned | Needed up front and returned in the same transaction. |
Spending your entire displayed SOL balance may leave too little for these costs.
Receipts
After you approve, the result card tracks the transaction. Pending, confirmed and failed are separate states. The card links to the transaction on a Solana explorer and has a Check status control for unresolved transactions.
gitpad only shows a trade as confirmed after it checks the transaction against the canonical pool, mint and your wallet. An unresolved transaction may still settle, so check its status before submitting the same trade again.
Before graduation
Before graduation, trades execute against the market's Meteora Dynamic Bonding Curve. Buys add SOL to the curve's reserve and sells remove it. The market page shows graduation progress as the real reserve against the market's target. See Graduation.
After graduation
Once a market graduates and gitpad verifies its migration, the same Buy and Sell panel trades in the repository's verified Meteora DAMM v2 pool. Quotes, the 1% minimum-received limit, fees and network costs are shown the same way, and your wallet signs the exact swap. The receipt is checked against the canonical DAMM pool before it is shown as confirmed.
View pool on Meteora remains available. The price chart continues from curve history into verified DAMM swap prices once they are indexed.
Between the curve reaching its target and gitpad verifying the migration, the market shows a transition state.
Trading outside gitpad
The token and pools are ordinary Solana and Meteora accounts, so the token can also be traded through other interfaces that support them. Builder fees accrue from every fee-paying trade on the canonical pool, including trades that did not start on gitpad; gitpad's worker indexes those swaps too.
Reading the numbers
- Market cap is the current price multiplied by total supply, converted to USD when a SOL price is available. It is a fully diluted estimate, not cash that could be withdrawn.
- 24h volume is SOL turnover over the last 24 hours. It is not liquidity or reserve.
- Holders counts unique token-account owners with a positive balance, excluding the curve's own vault. One person can control many addresses.
Values come from finalized, indexed data and can lag the chain by a short time. An unavailable value is not a zero.
